Raymond Chan

Mr. Chan Raymond was the first recipient of the China National Arts Fund in Macau in 2021. In 2020, the Zhuhai Musicians Association commended him with the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Musicians in 2020." He was one of the two winners. Additionally, in 2019, Mr. Chan was also recognized by the Zhuhai Musicians Association as an "Outstanding Musician in 2019." That same year, the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau SAR Government awarded him the "Outstanding Teacher in 2019," marking the first time a music teacher in Macau has received this award.


In recent years, Mr. Chan's songs "Live Up to Our Original Aspirations," "A Hundred Years of Blooming," and "Bright Road" have been featured by numerous authoritative media outlets, including People's Daily, People's Daily Online, Art Headlines, Macau Daily, Macau Television, and others. He received a certificate from People's Music Publishing House.

After graduating from the Music Education Department of Macau Polytechnic Institute (now Macau Polytechnic University) in 2008, Mr. Chan pursued further piano studies at Wright State University in the United States.


Mr. Chan has been involved in various types of music activities, including piano performance, choral conducting, music education, and administrative organizational work. He has participated in over a hundred organizations and performances to date. For instance, Mr. Chan has performed as a piano soloist, accompanist, and chorus conductor in the United States, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Macau, and other locations such as the Xinghai Concert Hall in Guangzhou, the Piano Museum Concert Hall in Chongqing, and the Gulangyu Concert Hall in Xiamen.


To promote music education, he founded the "Ghost Music Rhapsody" and "Musicians Gathering" concert series in 2013, which have both received continuous high praise from the Macau SAR government and audiences.


In recent years, Mr. Chan has also developed a passion for choral conducting. He has led the Macau Sheng Kung Hui Choi Kou School Choir to victories in numerous international competitions, including the Korean International Choral Competition, the Grand Prix of Nations in Gothenburg, Sweden, the China International Choral Competition in Beijing, the Singapore International Choral Competition, and the Hong Kong International Choral Competition, securing the highest-level awards.


Under his guidance, choir members were invited by China Radio and Television in January 2021 to participate in the New Year Concert "Sail to the Greater Bay Area." In April of the same year, they were invited by the Central Opera House to perform at the Macau Cultural Center. In 2020, members were invited by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to Beijing for the "2020 New Year Tea Party of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference," where they performed for President Xi Jinping and several members of the Politburo Standing Committee at the time.
