Zhang Jin

Zhang Jin, Steinway Honorary Professor, is a renowned piano educator, professor and doctoral supervisor at the Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM). He also served as the Director of the Teaching and Research Office of Piano Studies at the CCOM Middle School.


Prof. Zhang has been widely regarded in China and abroad for making remarkable teaching achievements and cultivating a large number of excellent piano performers over a career of more than 30 years. Many of his students have been admitted, with top scholarships, into prestigious universities at home and abroad, including the Juilliard School, Eastman Conservatory of Music, Manhattan Conservatory of Music, Harvard University, Yale University, Liszt School of Music Weimar, and Berlin Conservatory of Music. Over the past two decades, they have won numerous awards at major national and international competitions in the U.S., Japan, France, Russia, etc. Among these competitions are the 2nd Chinese Young Performer Concerto Competition, the 5th. St.Petersburg "Road to Master" International Competition for Young Pianists, the 8th Vladimir Krainev International Competition for Young Pianists (Ukraine), the 1st Villa-Lobos International Piano Competition (Brazil), the 6th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Japan), the 10th Ettlingen International Piano Competition (Germany), the 7th Vladimir Horowitz International Competition for Young Pianists (Ukraine), the Paris Invitation Competition for Young Pianists (France), the 11th UNISA International Piano Competition (South Africa), the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition 2008, the Oberlin International Piano Competition 2008 and the E International Piano Competition 2008 (US), the 5th International Franz Liszt Piano Competition (Moskau), the Royal Northern College of Music Intermational Piano Competition (UK), the 8th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Competition (Poland), the 6th and 8th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, the 3rd CCTV Piano and. Violin Competition, the Prime Golden Bell Piano Competion, and the Shenzhen International Concerto Competition 2017. Out of the total 372 awards, 152 are gold prizes. They have been highly praised for their outstanding performances in the intensely competitive international arena.


For years, while devoting himself to piano teaching, Prof. Zhang has served as a jury member for the Cleveland International Piano Competition, the E International Competition for Young Pianists,the Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competition,the PTNA Piano Competition, the Paris International Competition for Young Pianists, the International Franz Liszt Competition for Young Pianists, the Seul International Piano Competition, the Beijing International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition for Young Pianists, and highly commended for giving master classes and lectures. He has planned and organized influential piano competitions in China and concerts with his students.


His name has been included in two books, “The famous Figures of The Contemporary Arts Circles in China” and “World Cultural Celebrity Dictionary”.
