Zhenyuan Liu

Liu Zhenyuan, a performer with the China Symphony Orchestra

 

Born in Inner Mongolia in 1996, began studying violin at age seven under Bai Liping, the leader and concertmaster of the Chifeng Song and Dance Ensemble and Chifeng Symphony Orchestra. Admitted to Shenyang Conservatory of Music Middle School in 2007, studied with Professor Liu Wei. During six years at the institution, received multiple scholarships for excellence in the major field and served as associate concertmaster of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra.

 

In 2013, admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music with distinguished performance, studied under violinists and educators Professor Tong Weidong and Professor Xie Nan. During university years, excelled in major field studies and served as associate concertmaster of the China Youth Symphony Orchestra. Participated in numerous significant events, including the 75th anniversary of the Central Conservatory of Music, the concert commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Anti-Fascist War victory, and performances at the opening and closing ceremonies of various music festivals.

 

In 2016, held a solo concert and the piano quintet won first prize in the Piano + String Ensemble Group F (professional group) at "Hummingbird Music Award" China Youth Music Competition. Also achieved fifth place at the Chengdu Guangya International Violin Competition in September of the same year. Received guidance from many domestic and international experts during the school period.

 

In 2017, participated in the graduate student recommendation process at the school and was exempted from entrance exams to continue studies as a graduate student at the Central Conservatory of Music. Upon undergraduate completion, received the "Outstanding Graduate" title from the Central Conservatory of Music. During graduate studies, attained excellent results and received the "National Scholarship" and "Outstanding Student" awards. Joined the newly established Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra and participated in the "Belt and Road Initiative" special concert. Served as associate concertmaster of the Central Conservatory of Music Graduate Symphony Orchestra.

 

After graduation in 2020, admitted to the China Symphony Orchestra as the top candidate and formed the string quartet "Kun."

 

In August 2021, won second place in the string ensemble category of the Vienna Classical Music Academy International Competition.

 

In 2022, selected through the internal selection of the China Symphony Orchestra's "Pride of the Nation" and successfully performed the domestic premiere of Spohr's Concerto for String Quartet in A minor at the Beijing Concert Hall in November, receiving high praise.

 

In March 2023, won second place in the professional ensemble category of the London Classical Music Competition and was invited to perform Spohr's Concerto for String Quartet in A minor during the music seasons of the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra and the Ningbo Symphony Orchestra, earning acclaim from audiences.
